Sophie Rowley is a textile artist known for the self-developed techniques that transform the physicality of materials to reveal new, unexpected aesthetics. Her work is an influence to me in my 3D Innovative textile project as the use of layering to create new surface is inspiring to me. Within my work I hope to adapt a technique that develops my chosen material (denim in this case)to another level. I plan to fray the edging of denim, by taking apart the weft, to expose a frayed edge that will be layered and cut to create textural layers.
