FELIPE FIALLO
I discovered the works of Felipe Fiallo when researching sustainable designers that were shaping the future of the textile industry. Felipe Fiallo, a luxury accessories designer, is typically known for his eco-futuristic digital technology shoes collection named “We Go Far”. His unique footwear merges his passion for fashion and biology with digital manufacturing processes. What interested me in Felipe Fiallo’s work was his fascination with experimenting to create a unique result sourced from nature; highlighting his views on how we need to co create with nature in order for us to survive.
His BioFuture biodegradable shoe collection uses seaweed and natural crystals to create a shoe growing from the mycelium of fungi. EcoFuture has a zero-waste principle and follows the circular economy system.
His work highlights the desire and need for change within the textile industry, through creating deeper and more meaningful changes. He believes that being radical is the way to go, ‘not only in raw materials, but in the entire chain of production and throughout the lifestyle of the product’. With an intention to migrate fully to a circular economy system Fiallo is setting an example for brands to follow.
